And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6 ESV
Jesus came to show us the Father. He came with skin so that we could relate to Him — because the Father desires to have relationship with us. He lived out the spoken Word of GOD so that we would understand what it meant to live out our true identities as children of the Most High GOD. He spoke only what the Father wanted us to know — that we might learn of His love for us and receive the compassion of a Father towards His Children.
The undeniable gentleness and mercy that Jesus poured out comes directly from the Father. Our Father Who is in Heaven. No matter how stubborn and stony our hearts can be, the love of the Father becomes lucid and alive within us, as His Spirit breathes life into our lifeless lungs.
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. John 14:8-10 ESV
Yes, Jesus came to show us the Father. We mistakenly think that GOD is too far out of reach — that only the well-educated in Biblical doctrine, speaking a certain language, going into fancy buildings, carrying large fully highlighted Bibles, or wearing expensive robes are allowed the audience of the One.
Sweet Friend, He’s as close as our next breath. In fact, He gives it to us so that we can take a moment to thank Him with it.
On this Good Friday, make it good. Because it’s a good day to come home to the Father. It’s always a good day to sit and just hang out with Him to chat about life — the ups, downs and all arounds. The highs and lows and the why’s of life. Yes, it’s a good day to restart, restore, renew, reboot, realign … because the Father said my Son makes it all good.
