Lift Your Spirit – “Be Praised”

You can never spend too much time praising GOD. In fact, if it’s not already a ‘habit’ of yours, today would be a great start, because if you’re a Jesus Follower, you’ll be spending all eternity praising the King of Kings — so why not get into the practice now?

Perhaps you’re looking at some really ugly circumstances and shaking your head saying, “How can I praise in the midst of this mess?” I get you, Friend. To be honest, I’ve sat in that seat many, many times myself. But let me share how the Holy Spirit taught me to get out of that slump — even before my circumstances visibly changed.

As I read in the Book of Psalms, it’s no secret that king David had his share of messy circumstances. Some of which he was totally responsible for. We’re talking about GOD-appointed king David — yes, he messed up just like we do. David was every bit as human as you and I. But he would turn and look up from the pit of his despair and praise GOD for Who He is and that in itself would begin to change things. Maybe David’s circumstances didn’t instantly change, yet GOD would do a work IN him that caused David to rise up to be the man GOD called him to be.

David paused long enough to recall the track record of GOD Almighty. That’s the turning point. No matter what our human eyes ‘see,’ we’ve got to lean into the fact that our GOD is eternal and has already gone to the end of this road. And in spite of how long the Lord allows for us to be in this season of _______________ (go ahead, fill in the blanks), He is greater than all that. Let that sit with you for a bit.

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

So, when I see that my immediate situation isn’t sunny and bright, I hit the pause button and remember Who GOD is and tell myself (yes, Sister, preach to yourself) He is still on the throne and nothing is too great for Him to handle.

Pause and Praise.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~

  1. The music video had me praising along! The video did not have captions. I am resourceful so I looked up the lyrics and watched it again, & again. 🙂 That was a good read too! Thank you. ❤️🙌Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device
