Lift Your Spirit – “Psalm 23”

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Many of us have heard the twenty-third Psalm read aloud from the pulpit. We’ve heard countless sermons preached on it’s meaning. There are a myriad of books written on this beloved reminder of what king David expressed about his GOD.

When I read these precious yet powerful words, I am struck with how much the Lord loves me.

From the first verse that immediately speaks of His provisions for me, through the details of His mindfulness of my mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing … His promises of His powerful Hand that will protect me throughout the toughest times of my life … preserving me and honoring me in the presence of those who fight against me … and surrounding me with His goodness and mercy as I continue to remain close to Him … I’m speechless at the depth of His devotion towards me.

Let this song of praise resonate with you — let it speak to your soul today — perhaps, elevate your mind to a place of holy worship that rekindles the compassionate love you have for your Savior.

May you fall in love again with Him, your beloved Shepherd of your soul.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
