Lift Your Spirit ~ “Dear Jesus”

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 NKJV

Have you heard the good news that Jesus wants to steer you away from religion? If you haven’t, it’s possible you’ve been listening to the wrong people, and you’re missing the whole reason He came.

Much of what the world wants you to think is that you’ve got to perfectly follow a ton of rules and be flawless in your execution of everyday life. But you and I know that no matter how hard we try, perfection is not in our DNA.

Sweet Friend, hear me when I say that Jesus is more real and down home than your BFF.

You may have tried to change your habits, your lifestyle, your selection of friends, your routines … maybe even attended a few church services or attempted a group Bible study. But none of that worked out simply because your motives and human efforts just couldn’t sustain you to make it to the next move or gathering.

Let’s pull it all back to the first step: “Dear Jesus …”

And as if you’re talking to a friend in a private conversation, just start talking.

And please don’t go internet searching for any kind of prescribed prayer written by someone else. The words that flow straight from your heart are more than well received by His.

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43 NIV

This was one of those conversations. The condemned man was being executed for his crimes. He had just enough time to speak honestly to Jesus and was guaranteed salvation at the moment he confessed that he needed the Savior. And the same offer is extended to each one of us.

It is my prayer that if you have not had your come to Jesus meeting, you’ll take a moment now with the breath you have in your lungs to speak plainly and openly to Him.

You’ve got His undivided attention.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
