This just may be the exact place you’re in, Friend. Waiting to see what GOD does. And I’ll make you feel at home, because that’s precisely where I am too.
As a verb, the word wait tells us to stay in expectation and to remain stationary or pause until something occurs. Two key words leap out at me here: expectation and pause. Because if left to my own devices, I would not be doing those things.
If I am told to wait for something or someone, I’m the least likely to remain still, much less pause. I’m that one in the room that’s pacing and busying herself to self-distract from thinking about what I’m waiting for.
I’m the one who’s cringing at the reminder of “be still and know I am GOD …” and “wait patiently for the Lord …” Because I know full well that He’s speaking those words directly to me ~ the do-er who’s always looking for projects to do while in the waiting room.
Why is it so hard for some of us to wait? Let me tell you what I’ve learned: control. It’s about wanting to be in control of the outcome (and usually the process too). And when GOD tells us to wait for Him to present the big reveal, we have been relieved from our duty at the control tower.
Trust issues … you think?
When you take a moment to just examine the reality behind GOD telling us to wait for Him (to work out the process and unveil a spectacular I~didn’t~know~that~was~even~possible scenario all because He loves us), it’s a humbling reminder that we are not GOD (and He is Good at His Work and always holds up to His Word), so release it and believe for His best. Because that’s what He delivers.
