Jeremiah 17:7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
This was a portion of my morning reading today … interesting on my part … or should I say, The Lord’s Part … He’s been speaking volumes to me lately about confidence.
Whenever my “selected” reading opens up with “but,” I tend to go back to see what God was saying earlier. To me, there’s a connecting thought or complete concept that He’s speaking out to me/us.
So when I did walk those few steps back in Jeremiah, look what I found:
Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
MMHMM … just as I suspected … a warning.
Human strength is no match to the Strength of God. Human wisdom doesn’t compare to God’s Wisdom. In fact, God says he curses those who trust in mere humans ~~ because it does turn our hearts away from Him.
Plain and simple to me.
Yet the Lord is Gracious to bless those who trust Him. “Making” Him our hope and confidence … that’s a choice. Depositing our hopes and dreams … concerns and cares … our EVERYTHING … in Him. That’s more than just “casual” acknowledgment of God ~~ that’s “pouring ourselves” into Him.
As I ponder over this passage of Scripture, I receive more … it says: making the Lord our hope and confidence. To me, this is a firm reminder that even “what” I’m humanly hoping for … “what” I need confidence for … MUST be Him … and not what my human mind has conjured up as the ultimate end and solution to a present dilemma.
“What are you hoping for this day, Girlfriend?”
It is my deepest prayer that you’ll see that The Lord stands before you because He’s already gone into your future ~~ and to trust Him means you have nothing to fear. Just walk the Journey with Him in trust. And He’ll be your confidence as you travel.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Sister ~~
