For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised.
Hebrews 10:36 AMP
Have you ever had one of those moments when you just gotta look up to Heaven and say, “GOD, You’ve got a sense of humor!”
During my quiet time with The Lord one morning, I had such a moment. There were things in recent times that just caused me to “shut my mouth,” and go workout — anyone know what I mean here? Those restless and CHALLENGING times that call you to respond with silence — for your own good. I have learned in my recent years that sometimes GOD does want us to respond with silence — and this was one of them. Of course, He does call us to always be a faithful witness, but that may be in the form of mature quiet so that The Holy Spirit can be the vocal One.
I had been praying over a situation that did not need the input and feedback from all of my friends. GOD was seemingly keeping me “close” so that I would not wander into a forest of opinions and chatter that were unnecessary. So I obeyed.
As He led me to this Scripture verse, I had to smile, because He knows my heart ♥️ and knows how it beats, its rhythm and why. He had calmed my soul to show me that though the mess had gone from bad to worse, there is hope and rest to be found in Him if I continue to obey.
And so I do.
But it isn’t easy, Sister.
Yes, my head hurts, my frustrations rise (including my heart rate) — and I want to run away at times. But I’m am gently reminded that the process must completely run its course before I can claim and experience the promise. That process isn’t always the one I would’ve scripted for me (chuckle! chuckle!).
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 AMP
EXHAAAALE.
If your situation has gone from messy to messier, I grab hold of your hand and reassure you — GOD knows that you can make it all the way through it, Girlfriend. He’s not done with you yet.
And that’s the bittersweet part, Girlfriend, as He is molding your character to be transformed into His Image.
Transparency in the spiritual sense isn’t the opportunity for others to see more of me — but rather, to see more of Christ in me.
That is my testimony — that is my witness of Who GOD is. No words could possibly verbalize the essence of His Transformation of me other than Him in me.
So yes, my mess gets messier — and it seems humanly impossible to overcome at times. But it’s what GOD does with my messier moments as He is allowed to turn, fold, spindle, weave — all of that — every inch and ounce of it. That is what makes my messier moments spiritually “memorable.” Because when I can look back and reflect upon the goodness of GOD through those messier times and see how He held onto me in love and affection — I can proclaim that He truly dwells within this Temple.
Who’s got a mess that only GOD can fix? Has it gone from messy to messier? Hold on tightly, Sister — redemption draws near and your Savior stands here.
So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “ The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me? Hebrews 13:6.
Comfort — Encouragement — Confidence — key words for these messier moments in life. He meets us right smack dab center court — bring it on, Sister. Our GOD is BIGGER than your messiest situations.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend,
