Thankful Thursday

Anyone who loves you and bows in obedience to your words will be my friend. Psalm 119:63 The Passion Translation

On this day I just want to shout out to my faithful friends who have stood with me and stayed close to me in these recent difficult days. Y’all know who you are — you also know I couldn’t do life without you!

I am so full of gratitude that these few continued to lift me up in prayer, sent me messages of encouragement and didn’t let me sink into a pit of depression. Your tender and compassionate words transformed this weary heart — and I owe y’all so, so much.

This experience of community and camaraderie of the Body of Christ is only living proof that the Church is not a physical ‘building,’ nor is it necessary to gather under the same roof in order to effectively worship and study the Word of GOD.

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. Acts 17:24 NIV

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT

• To whom do you need to send a message of encouragement today?
• Is there someone who could benefit from your prayers for their situation?

You may need to think a bit more creatively than you are accustomed to doing; but it’s not anything that will require you to leap tall buildings at a single bound. Listen Girlfriend, if we are willing to set alarms to shop online during a few hours in the darkness of dawn, we can certainly do something of reasonable proportion to lift up a tired soul.

Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:23 NLT

And so many times we need our Friends to remind us of that very fact — that the love of the Lord is new and fresh every morning!

Life being what it is this side of Paradise, there will still be disappointments — so we need to walk forward with our head held high (our crown won’t stay put if we hang our head) and facing what comes down our path. But we also need to secure our true Friendships — those in that tightly knitted circle — and embrace them.

We are Community — we are the Body of Christ — and we need each other.

Now, go out there and prove yourself to be a Friend!
