Lift Your Spirit

The word ‘reckless’ is often associated with negative connotations of rude and inconsiderate behavior towards another person. Usually in conjunction with drunk drivers or comments spewed out in a heat of anger. So why use it to describe the love of GOD?

Let’s give this a brief moment of thought …

The Lord loves us no matter what we do — He continues to beckon us back to Him — without reservation. We don’t need to ‘do’ anything (performance metrics have no place in Heaven). He has provided our worthiness in His Son, Jesus Christ — so that takes care of the ‘how.’

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!  In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14 NLT

Maybe ‘reckless’ is our limited human word for something so out of this world and far away from our limited comprehension that it’s as good as it gets to describe the heavenly affection of GOD Almighty towards each one of us in a personal manner. For those who have yet to embrace and experience this, it would indeed seem unreasonable, impractical and quite nonsensical.

But for those who can rejoice over the fact that this reckless love covers us again and again and again … it is comforting and soothing to the soul. We are loved so deeply that the Spirit can only rejoice on our behalf.
