Thankful Thursday

Ever sit back and thank GOD for the season and era that He chose to bring you into existence? Seriously, we may have gripes and grumbles about this present age, but if you really think about it, things could’ve been much worse.

Take a look at some of the historical pages of events that are chronicled just 10, 15 or 20 years before your actual birthday. It can be somewhat depressing when you realize the limited technology and choices that were available then. The uncharted medical arenas, undiscovered scientific evidence that gives glory to GOD’s mighty Hand … everything that ultimately points to the omnipotence of our GOD … our eyes had not yet seen, nor our ears heard …

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 New Living Translation

GOD in His benevolent love for each one of us purposed the exact timing of our lives to fulfill His magnificent Plan for His Kingdom.

Reading even further back into history, the Old Testament speaks volumes (literally) of the living conditions of the ancients of faith (as well as those who chose to live outside of GOD’s Will) — and I must admit, I would not be a good candidate for living without the luxuries of modern day comfort. But then, they lived as such for that’s all they knew. Just as this is all we know.

And we know so little.

This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. Psalm 102:18. New King James Version

Spoken in those very words from so long ago, it warms my heart to hear and see that the Lord of Hosts would take such great care to assure and encourage us — me — that His Heart seeks to comfort us in our every moment of life.

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4. ESV

That His Love for those of us yet to come could receive His spoken Word through the diligent work of His Apostles and warriors of faith. Just so that we could keep going. Keep pressing forward.

This day I am very grateful for those who have gone before us. The heroes of the Hall of Faith as they are heralded in the book of Hebrews. And for all who, through obedience, lived as they did and are recorded as having lived according to the commands and precepts of GOD’s Ways. What awesome examples they are — yes, present tense. While they suffered under different conditions than we, their living testimonies of lives well lived give us a legacy to inspire us to win this race.

Sweet Friend, if you’re seeking encouragement for your present situation, allow me to point you towards the timeless truth. Don’t know where to start? I find that small bites help me to digest big meals. Begin with daily readings in the smaller Books of the Bible: Philippians, Ephesians, Proverbs. Just a chapter a day. Or a few verses a day. Five minutes, 15 minutes … whatever suits you. But go there — meet up with the One Who loves you so well that He purposed you for this time in space.

Begin to write your history with Him.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
