Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5 NLT
I am such a do-er sort of person that I even look for things to do while I’m supposedly ‘resting.’ Yes, I know that’s counterintuitive to what I should be doing in that moment — but it is genuinely difficult for me to sit still; I really have to work at it.
So, when I take something to the Lord, my hands have to be pried off the matter that I’m laying on the altar of surrender. And that’s because my mind races with thoughts of ‘have I done enough’ before I say, ‘GOD I cast this into Your Hands?’ As if anything I could do would even make a dent in the divine progress of things. SMH
Today’s Scripture verse beckons me to ‘commit’ and to ‘trust’ the Lord for all my whatevers and in all my whenevers. And the blessing is clear: He will help me.
The prideful problem with us do-ers is that we are so performance-driven that we struggle with resting in the truths that GOD already has the best plan signed and sealed and simply awaits for us to lean on His faithfulness to bring everything to fruition. While I am waiting for His answer(s), my obedience is my response.
Not easy. But He even has an answer for that.
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT
This means He promises to strengthen me with His Presence even where I am waiting. I don’t have to be ‘in motion.’ I can take care of other business and GOD will strengthen me to remain obedient in my waiting zone.
I think that part of the difficulty in waiting is that we want to see the action of progress in motion, that GOD is actively working on my issue(s) — as a sort of confirmation that we haven’t been forgotten or that GOD has His Hand on it — a priority tag of sorts. But honestly, if we sit and think about that, it sounds almost ridiculous. Would GOD forget his beloved’s cries for help? Never!
Trusting GOD for what He says is the best outcome for us in any matter — really is the better deal. Because if He’s gone ahead of us, He already knows what tomorrow brings.
Allow me to link arms with you today, Friend, if you’re also waiting on the Lord for answer to prayer. We could all use some extra support, even if it’s just to say, “I’m with you in this and believing for you.”
Based on GOD’s track record, I know He is faithful and will come through for both of us — we just have to trust Him for it.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
