Have you ever been told by someone that they trust you to do something, only to have them place a heavy hand of control over the way you accomplish the task?
Those of us who recognize a controller generally have a good sense of the traits on display because we tend to have some of those ourselves to a degree. That being said, one would think that we know how to interact and help those who are not yet addressing their controlling behavior by wanting to do better.
The frustration ensues as we set out to work our process and the other person calls from the sidelines to convince us to change, modify and alter our methods. If you’re like me, Friend, you feel judged before getting started. Judged that you will fail because you are choosing to do things in a manner that don’t appear to make sense to the other person.

The same can be said when we say we trust the Lord with a matter (worry, concern, etc.) and He responds by doing something completely different than what we would ever consider, much less apply to our situation.
5
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6
In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Proverbs 3:5-6 Amplified
If we truly believe that GOD is Who He says He is, then we are admitting that we are not. Not in control, not perfect, not able to be sinless, not able to save others … we are not. But He is. And He is enough.
Trusting in Him must come from a confidence that He knows better because of Who He is. We may totally disagree with the way He chooses to handle a situation. We may even misread His leading as something not from Him at all. Doubt will start to creep at our door if we entertain that because His workings are not what we would orchestrate, that it is not from Him.
Our desires to follow Christ are not out of a human heart. It is from a heart filled with the Holy Spirit. Our human understanding is far limited and contrary to GOD’s ways.

8
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
9
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 Amplified
‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],’ says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6b Amplified
So, when we become disheartened and erroneously think that GOD has abandoned us or is wanting to make life difficult for us, I think that possibly we have strayed from our place of surrender and confident trust in Him to do what is best for us. Our Heavenly Father is a good, good Father — He would never seek to destroy you or your dreams.
“Are you frustrated with something today, Friend? Could it be that you’re frustrated with GOD and the way He is handling something you’ve surrendered to Him?”
It has taken me nearly a lifetime to come to terms with the fact that I cannot always have things my way. That’s the mindset of a controller. Has to have life rolling on their terms, with the circumstances neat and tidy and the sun shining everyday.
“But then where is your faith?”
Faith grows in the climate of trials and valleys. Its roots go down deep where it can receive living water, not just the dew drops of external sources, but down in the depths of that soil from where things emerge into the Son Light.
Stomping our feet and screaming until we get our way are signs that we will have opportunities ahead that may be repeat of former lessons not yet learned.
Acknowledging GOD to be all-powerful and all-knowing means that we accept that He is trustworthy.
“So, why do we fight to trust Him?”
Perhaps we have need to sincerely release our hold on our lives and turn it over to the One Who gave it all so that we might have all of Him.
“How can we say that we trust GOD with our eternal life but refuse to trust Him with our physical life?“

And that was the pivot that I had to make to understand my own trust issues.
If this is an area you are struggling in, I invite you today to pray — right here, right now. You don’t have to move one micrometer from where you sit. Just pause and pour out your heart to the One Who created it, embraces it, knows what’s in it and keeps it beating. He knows where the shattered pieces are and is ready to heal them.
It’s very possible that what you had contrived in your mind as being the best possible solution to something is actually harmful in the long run and the Lord is actually protecting you from devastation that you are not aware of.
Trust Him today, Friend, and begin to move forward knowing full well that He truly does have only the best to give you. Even if what you ‘see’ doesn’t make sense right now. Don’t try to filter it through a lens of logic. Pray that His desires for you are the desires you welcome. And expect great things to come.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake? 11 If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him. Matthew 7:9-11 Amplified
