Girlfriend, it’s time for a celebration! So, you and I are going to throw a party to celebrate who we are in Christ.
Can we lean in for a moment here? I want to share something that I’ve learned the hard way so that you don’t have to. GOD Almighty designed you for an extraordinary purpose. He created you in the most beautiful way — exactly as you are — to be in relationship with Him and with those around you. And all the quirkiness that you wish you could exchange or trade-in for something not real (but actually air-brushed to look real) is what makes you and me uniquely gorgeous in His Eyes.
As you listen to this brief roundtable discussion, I am confident that you will find yourself high-fiving your screen and nodding your head in agreement with the sentiment shared among these precious women. Even with the gifts and enormous talent that each one of these ladies possess, they, too, have experienced many, many moments of insecurities and dissatisfaction about some aspect of themselves.
As the years go by, I am finally coming to terms with the fact that GOD made me unique — just as He has you. And believe it or not, He trusts us to go out into the world to do well with what He has given us. If He were disappointed in the way we looked or in our personalities, He would have made a ‘mistake.’ In which case, He would not be GOD.
But because He is GOD, He is Perfect and only creates perfection. We are His Image Bearers.
I’ll admit to you here that it has literally taken me a lifetime to appreciate who GOD created me to be. I’m almost embarrassed to articulate that because I don’t want to insult GOD my Creator. Perhaps my admission will give you the courage to not waste your years wishing to be someone else (with longer legs, brilliant mind, musical ability, technologically savvy, eloquent in speech … the list is endless).
Sister, this is a sermon that I must preach to myself on a daily basis. The world around us sends us lightning fast signals of what is beauty and intelligence and giftedness — to make us wish ourselves away. Stop. Get off that train.
If you were worth the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, you are worth celebrating the GOD-breathed woman that you see in the mirror.
Let the party begin!
14 I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.
What you have done is wonderful.
I know this very well. Psalm 139:14 NCV
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
