“Is GOD Always Good?” ~ Lysa TerKeurst

11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
    from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11 ESV

People’s thoughts can be like a deep well,
    but someone with understanding can find the wisdom there. Proverbs 20:5 NCV

Trust. A word a that carries a lot of weight. Especially when it comes to relationships.

Trust in GOD. Trust in other people. Now, we start to recall past experiences that may or may not have pleasant memories.

Many of us tend to be creatures of control ~ we’ve got to be the one calling the shots, making the plans, holding the remote, directing the play. Why? Usually because we don’t trust others to do or much less contribute to a project that we value.

Have we ever stopped to consider that in His Grace of free will, GOD is allowing us to choose how we will behave? How we will live? How we will treat others? How we will share what He has given us? How we will use the gifts and talents that He has planted within us?

In His infinite wisdom, He knows how we will move and do ~ and He calls us to trust Him without always knowing what lies ahead in front of us. Greater consequences await us when we take matters into our own hands when we should be emptying our hands to take hold of His.

Lysa reminds us to remember the goodness of GOD in times past. How quickly we forget that He brought us to this moment in our lives.

I invite you to take a break and listen to this brief discussion between friends about their trust issues. Perhaps you will find yourself re-examining how you deal with certain situations that involve other people. Maybe you will discover how trusting GOD can turn things around in your life, without Him changing the circumstances. That’s something to consider.

Grab something to take notes and a favorite warm drink. There’s a lot packed into this short conversation. I pray that you’ll be blessed and leave with insight that comes only from trusting GOD. Allow Him to speak into your space today.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
