3-4 I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way? Psalm 8:4 The Message
When I land on these words of Scripture penned by king David, I get how jaw-dropped he was when he came to the realization that the Sovereign GOD, Master Creator of all things, would take a glance in his direction and give him time in His day to tend to all his needs, from breath in his lungs to food for his body to the beauty of nature.
For all the times that we mumble under our breath and complain in our heads about why things are wonky and so far off the rails in our lives, the GOD of all creation still sees fit to allow us the opportunity to look up and see the beauty of His Hand ~ day and night.
On this Thursday, take a moment to just sit with the fact that you didn’t have to ask for your heart to beat and for oxygen to flow through your lungs nor for your neurons to connect in your brain. GOD made that all possible before you woke up.
That’s all worth at least a few minutes of genuine gratitude, wouldn’t you agree?
