For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
It’s no secret that we live in a broken world.
When it can be declared that nearly one of every five persons is suffering from a mental illness, that’s worth asking some questions.
While there are countless reasons that would answer the ‘why,’ there’s also an aspect (especially as Christ Followers) that deems reckoning: “What is the Church doing about it?”
Obviously we are not Jesus. We are incapable of healing others with one touch.
But GOD …
In His mercy, sees fit to equip all of us with His word, where we can begin to find hope and get on the road to healing, and to steer us in the direction of godly counsel and medical professionals who can keep us walking that journey to wholeness.
The point here is to acknowledge without judgement so that those who are seeking help are not guilted by their need for help. Let that settle for a bit.
It’s a perfect place to let compassion and empathy rise to the surface even when we don’t have all the answers, so that we can ‘be Jesus’ for those who are in agony over where to even begin.
This very transparent discussion is vital for all the church to hear and to take action for the sake of our sisters (and brothers) so there can be restoration and ministry for those still yet to follow in our steps. Their journey just may be a tiny bit less difficult.
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 NKJV
Let us speak peace and hope into this world, so that others who don’t yet know our Lord may confidently seek Him.
