The mandate was result of the September 11, 2001, attack in the United States. The intention was to create a system for securing national safety by preventing fraud – of identity. In other words, it would be a tangible form of authentic proof of who the card holder is.
There is a stiff penalty in attempting to deceive or obtain a false form of identification, whether it is a driver’s license or passport. You simply cannot travel under false pretenses.
This causes me to reflect on how sometimes as Christ Followers we don’t understand our GOD-given identity and therefore, don’t live as we have been called to live.
Would that constitute living under false pretenses?
When you really think about it, we would be living our life disguised as someone else, or attempting to go the length of this journey ~ travel ~ as a false person.
Isn’t that what we do when we deny the truth of our Identity in Christ?
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 NIV
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12 ESV
Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. Romans 8:1 Amplified
If I don’t grab hold of these truths that were spoken over me by GOD Himself, then I make the terrible mistake of living like someone who is not His Daughter.
Sadly, I think that when we forget or don’t fully embrace our identity in Christ, we are living misinformed. Doing things as the world dictates as popular and trending, all for the sake of acceptance. And because we are wired for relationships, that acceptance can cause us to do whacky things.
The harsh things that people say out loud to us have a way of making their mark on us. We eat it up, digest it, and too often, live it out like it’s truth. But it’s not. None of it is. However, we allow it to do such internal damage that we believe that about ourselves. And then we spiral into a tizzy and need the help of others to pull us out of a deep pit.
I’m confident that you would agree that there’s a lot of ‘stuff’ swirling around us, and if we could see it in the natural realm with our physical eyes, we’d not be able to sleep well at night.
Who we are is defined by Whose we are. Let that sit with you for a bit.
As a Daughter of the King of kings, we are Royalty. We have an inheritance that is immeasurable. In fact, we’ve been given holy power ~ Holy Spirit power ~ to keep moving forward one step at a time, and that same power fills our lungs with the air to exhale peace in the hard times.
And that’s just because … we are loved.
We are not the lies that were spoken over us, nor the labels that were pinned on us, nor the ugly words that were thrown in our faces.
Friend, you are His Beloved Daughter. And it’s time for you (and me) to live up to our real identity.
It takes time and work on our part to really wrap our minds around this, but I truly believe that when we do, we become an unstoppable force. When GOD says to be strong and courageous, He’s not giving that command to weaklings on the sidelines.
Are you in, Friend? It’s going to change the trajectory of your life.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
