It’s the remaining hours of 2015 ~~ a few quiet moments alone ~~ cleaning up old emails and paving the way for a fresh new year of goals and adventures.
I open up my emailbox and glance at the endless titles of subject matter that no longer pertain to the direction GOD has given me. And I mean there’s a lot! So I click ~~ open ~~ “unsubscribe.” Entry after entry after entry ~~ and I spend hours repeating this ~~ even taking breaks to brush off the monotony of this task. As I continue on in my pursuit to eliminate all unnecessary data and information, all the more I am determined to not allow unnecessary clutter to gather again in my life.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth removing obstacles that block your way. Amplified translation.
And this is how I plan to intentionally live Sweet ’16 ~~ relying confidently on the Lord ~~ acknowledging and recognizing Him in everything ~~ because I want straight and smooth paths. After having experienced the reconstruction of my knees, I realize the importance of walking on safe and secure terrain to avoid mishaps to recovering legs. I can see the metaphorical lesson there in relationship to my spiritual walk and wanting to avoid spiritual mishaps and encounters that would block my path.
Some folks are inclined to take this time to realign what they call “resolutions” for the upcoming year. I’m not opposed to this at all ~~ I firmly believe that if change occurs in the life of a person it must initiate from within ~~ so go for it! But for me, resolutions have a short life span ~~ about the length of “interest level.” Once the “newness” has worn off, so has my burning desire to continue with my resolution. All it takes is for me to miss the mark on one occasion, and I’m a lost cause in the resolution department.
I have found that what really works is a committed heart for the Lord. Because then I don’t have to expect my own strength and wisdom (which has much to be desired) to carry me through to accomplish what He sets out for me to do anyway.
So I unsubscribe.
Unsubscribe to comparing myself to others ~~ their accomplishments, their appearances, their possessions, and their lifestyles. Instead, I will intentionally compliment and praise them and GOD for blessing them with so much to share with others.
Philippians 4:11-13 I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. Message translation.
Unsubscribe to complaining ~~ about what I don’t approve of in society or others. Instead, I will intentionally keep my mouth shut and silently pray on the inside ~~ that GOD will give me the strength to be the change I want to see.
Philippians 2:14-15 Do all things without complaining or bickering with each other, so you will be found innocent and blameless; you are God’s children called to live without a single stain on your reputations among this perverted and crooked generation. Shine like stars across the land. Voice translation.
Unsubscribe to “digging up old bones” of the past ~~ it’s much harder to trip over objects that lie behind you. Instead, I will intentionally remember that GOD has forgiven me so I must forgive others.
Colossians 3:13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. New Living Translation.
Unsubscribe to former insecurities ~~ that want to rear their ugly heads and make for bad company. Instead, I will intentionally push aside the pride that feeds into feeling insecure, and fill myself up with GOD’S Word and allow my mind to be transformed and renewed.
Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. New Living Translation.
“You have successfully unsubscribed!” Because I want to hear:
Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your master.’
That, my Sweet Sister, is the ultimate goal! Will you join me in pursuing our great GOD by unsubscribing to all the unnecessary worldly temptations? Let’s go for it ~~ I’m with you ~~ GOD is for us (so you know no power is stronger) ~~ time to declutter and embrace what matters.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
May you experience the LOVE of God like never before~~ whether it falls for the first time upon you or refreshes you anew ~~ His Mercies are new every morning! Receive them ~~ receive Him.
