Girlfriend, what ‘thoughts’ are YOU holding in your heart?
Mary was every bit a woman much like us ~~ caring, concerned, hormonal, nurturing, seeking to provide the very best for her family … I’m sure she had her up days and down days. After all, she had a full house of children to manage and a husband that was a self-employed carpenter.
But the Bible specifically makes mention of these particular thoughts ~~ that she CHERISHED, or held close to her heart and RECALLED them often. She never totally let them go.
Prophetic Promises from God ~~ they kept her hopeful and obedient. On those days when she would look at her children ~~ and then LOOK at her first born son and recall these promises that spoke of Him and His future ~~ what intriguing stirrings of the soul that must have ignited within her! She KNEW He was sent by God, but she may not have fully comprehended all that was to become of Him.
Cherished Thoughts.
We may not consider that negative or bad thoughts are cherished thoughts. But let’s examine something here for a moment ~~ lean in with me …
If we ‘harbor‘ thoughts in our minds and recall them often, are those not cherished? I mean let’s face it ~~ why would we then continue to DWELL on them, RECALL them, SPEAK of them, SHARE them, (here’s one) POST them … That’s an awful lot of INVESTED time given to these thoughts.
It’s officially spring and many of us are going through the ritual of annual purging and cleaning and discarding of unused and UNNECESSARY clutter. That’s all fine for the home that is seen by the public eye; yet what about the unseen ‘home’ that contains our thoughts and feelings? Is it possible that we need to REMOVE some ill feelings and thoughts that are just unnecessary and are taking up valuable space?
Girlfriend, let’s take the time to REMOVE those unwanted and useless thoughts and let The Holy Spirit REPLACE them with His Promises.
2 Corinthians 10:5 We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One.
Romans 15:4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
May you be FILLED with HOPE and JOY this day, Girlfriend ~~ I love you to Heaven and Back!
