“Pray Like You Want to Hear”

Luke 18:1, 4, 6 Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. He said, “There was once a judge in some city who never gave God a thought and cared nothing for people. A widow in that city kept after him: ‘My rights are being violated. Protect me!’ “He never gave her the time of day. But after this went on and on he said to himself, ‘I care nothing what God thinks, even less what people think. But because this widow won’t quit badgering me, I’d better do something and see that she gets justice—otherwise I’m going to end up beaten black-and-blue by her pounding.’” Then the Master said, “Do you hear what that judge, corrupt as he is, is saying? So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you, he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?”

This woman had confidence in her persistent pursuit ~~ her plight was to grab the attention of a ungodly judge and receive due justice.

How much more faith should God’s elect have in His Power to fulfill His Promises towards us?  It is not that we nag or bother God until He can no longer bare to hear our petitions ~~ goodness, the God of The Universe could never tire of His creatures’ discontent.  But rather He is encouraging us to believe with as much strength as this persistent woman that He will come through for us every time and anytime.

Humility in our act of obedient confidence is an outward demonstration of Whom we worship.

“Where is YOUR faith, Girlfriend?”

Show me your faith, and I will show you your god … Are you trusting in YOUR POWER of prayer? You are no more able to fulfill your own prayers than your are to adequately express them.  Are you relying on the prayers of OTHERS to petition God on your behalf?  I’m sure He would much rather have that conversation with YOU.  Are you murmuring repeated prayers written by someone else?  Would you READ a greeting card to your loved ones in place of speaking your expressions directly to them?  Sincerity and authenticity are borne in the heart ~~ and that is exactly where it all begins …

If we say that God is Who He says He is, why would we shrink back upon remembrance or need at any request?  When we seek justice at a mere grocery store by demanding to speak with ‘the manager,’ why would we diminish the need for spiritual justice or satisfaction by trivializing a Holy and All Powerful God?

Persistent prayer is an exercise in persistent faith ~~ that The One Who hears will indeed respond in the most favorable manner.

“What need(s) do YOU have this day, Girlfriend that require persistent and confident faith in The God that is able to do exceedingly beyond our imagination?”

Romans 4:20-25 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.

Did you catch that, Girlfriend?  Right in the middle of that passage ~~ “… It wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit.  It was recorded for our benefit, too …”

For the Ones coming up behind …

I love you to Heaven and Back, Sister ~~ keep believing and keep praying!
