“He is Nearer”

Psalm 46:1 The Voice Translation
This song is attributed to the sons of Korah. It praises God for His strength and protection and for Jerusalem and its temple where God uniquely dwells. It invites the world to witness a future when wars and striving will cease and all the nations know and worship the one True God.
God is our shelter and our strength. When troubles seem near, God is nearer, and He’s ready to help. So why run and hide?

The times in which we live just seem to scream with headlines that calamity and fear are impending ~~ that there is literally no hope for us. True, we live in these perilous days, BUT God is ever present … and continues to be available to ALL who call upon Him.

A dear friend of mine recently shared that her sister's family was in a horrific car accident. I admit that when I saw the photos from the scene, I was on the brink of tears just thinking about the young children that were in that car with them. The fear and panic that must've been going through her sister's mind in the moment of that ordeal ~~ every mother's nightmare. And yet, God spared the entire family. Yes, the car was completely totaled. Nothing shy of a miracle, they were all spared.

How do we choose to respond to these daily life occurrences? What is our initial reaction?
Do we text a friend? Do we call a loved one?
Do we drop to our knees in prayer and cry out to the God of the Universe?

Alive and breathing, it is impossible to avoid all mishaps in the world. While we might 'escape' here and there, something is bound to happen at some point and at the least expected moment.

Yet, God reassures us that while these terrible things may occur all around us, He is nearer.

Isaiah 41:10 So don’t be afraid. I am here, with you; don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you. I am here with My right hand to make right and to hold you up.

I love this verse! You can't get any clearer than that. For me, it puts the 'period' at the end of my otherwise 'questionable' situation.

Girlfriend, whatever it is that is YOUR 'BIG PROBLEM' at this very moment ~~ God is there for you. Call upon Him ~~ fall into His Arms ~~ let Him take care of you and 'it.' He so wants to be your strength.
