14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 ESV
Whenever I read about the miracles that happened in the Bible, my mind transports to a time in history where it seems as though such extraordinary occurrences were commonplace. Or is it that because so many of these documented accounts are compiled into one neat place from cover to cover, that I can barely turn a page without falling upon one?
I am utterly baffled at how the Pharisees and religious leaders of those ancient times argued over the timing of Jesus’ performance of miracles — that because they happened on the Sabbath — that it was just cause to bring accusation against Him. The focus was about the day of the week such events took place and not on the Miracle Worker Himself. GOD Himself performing miracles in their midst and yet they were too blinded by their status and legalism to see it. They were losing their grip on the people’s attention to their rules and regulations.
Are we any different? That is the question to meditate upon today. GOD is in our midst, but how are we responding to the everyday miracles of life: the breath in our lungs, the eyes to read these words, the ears to hear the message provided here, the heart that beats because He designed it with the rhythm that gave it the blessing to experience this day.
Do we fly out the door and pursue the items on the checklist without giving so much as a nod to the One Who poured out Himself on our behalf? Who took the time to be with us and continues to make Himself available to us? Who wanted us to hear it from His lips that GOD desires for us to be with Him?
Join me for this brief moment and let this message from Beth Moore stir up the expectancy that Immanuel brings to our souls. May it awaken your spirit to the awesome fact that He has come personally for you and me.
38 Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to do whatever he wants. May everything you said come true.” And then the angel disappeared. Luke 1:38 TLB
