Have you ever reached out to someone who promised they would show up, only to have them not show up? Perhaps you’ve planned a huge gathering, took a lot of time and manicured all the details but only a few people attended? Maybe you’ve set aside time and devoted a ton of energy, invited all the guests, only to hear one decline after another until there simply was no event to be had?
Maybe the situation has been the complete opposite and you’ve declined or refused to participate or possibly just chose not to show up, even though you had told the host you would be there.
Whatever the circumstances, whether they were flipped in either direction, this sort of repeated behavior can pave the way for messy relationships down the road. Would you agree?
We all have choices. And yes, we have every ‘right’ to say ‘no’ to something. Yet, let us be very careful about those invitations that we’d rather ‘not’ attend.
Jesus invites us to spend time with Him every day. If we refuse to acknowledge Him upon waking, and keep ignoring the Whispers in our soul, pretty soon those Whispers become so faint that we miss Him altogether. This all begins with, “I’d rather not do this right now.”
A sermon, a message from a podcast or a daily devotional can cause us to remember that GOD calls us to spend deeper study time with Him in His Word and in prayer. We glance at our watches and the to-do list for the day and say, “I do not have time for this. I’ll get to You later, I promise.”
Before we know it, our occasional refusals to obey the Whispers of the Holy Spirit have become regular habits and we’ve become deaf to His Voice.

We can make all the excuses for not being healed, not getting to church, not getting into personal Bible study, not reading the Word, not hearing a sermon, not making time to meet and sit with Jesus, not knowing Scripture and their meaning … a lot of “knots/nots” can make our lives a tangled mess!
Jesus is always available. So, when we say we’ve “not time” it’s because we’ve not made the time.

I’ll admit to you that when GOD revealed this to me in my own personal life, it was a definite red-faced moment for me. Nothing is more humbling than when the GOD of the Universe answers your prayers with a revelation of where you’ve fallen short.
So, let me encourage you, Sweet Sister, to take the time to sit with Him and not be in such a hurry to get to the next so-called important thing on your to-do list. Checking off all the boxes doesn’t necessarily equate to having been in the holy presence of the One Who loves you with all His Heart.
Is it possible that He is waiting on you to not be so busy that you can have a sweet conversation with Him? He has all the time to give you. At the very least, it would do our souls some good to untangle ourselves in His Arms and let Him minister to our hearts.
I guarantee you’ll not exit the same person that went in.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
