Thirty Seconds Thursday

Have you ever had a moment when you just had to tell someone some news — good or bad — and you rush to get to this person, only to get tongue tied? Like the words are stuck somewhere between your brain and your mouth and no matter how much you want to speak, the words simply won’t flow?

It’s frustrating, to say the least. And if you’re anything like me, normally a person who can’t stop talking, come to a screeching halt and the words remain unspoken — you almost feel like you’re going to implode!

I know you’ve had the experience when perhaps a small child, family member, neighbor friend is running full speed in your direction and you just have had the hardest day ever, and you’re thinking silently, “I can’t do this right now.” But maybe you reluctantly acquiesce, all the while you’ve tuned them out and for the life of you can’t seem to hear a word they’re saying.

Lean in for a bit here. GOD is never reluctantly listening — He is intentionally listening, He doesn’t tap His foot waiting for you to “get to the point.” He meets you where you are and can wait you out until those precious words come flowing out.

No one else does that. Not your BFF. Not your spouse. Not even your four-legged furry friend.

He loves you more than you will ever know! And get this: He is eager to hear how you are doing (even though He already knows) straight from your mouth.

You might be thinking, “I’m not comfortable praying out loud.” Or maybe even, “I’m just not comfortable praying.” Okay. But can I tell you that the best relationships are forged in communication — both ways? Each party speaks and listens to the other.

So, allow me to encourage you to take that first step. Go ahead, Sweet Friend, let it all out. The good, the bad, the ugly, the distasteful, the disgusting, the embarrassing … all of it. He’s seen it anyways, so it’s not news to Him.

And spend this Thirty-Second moment with the One Who believes you are worth dying for. You just might find that you need more than Thirty Seconds. I’m sure GOD’s got all the time to give you. And as you continue to do this, it just might become the habit you had been longing to develop all along.

Just a sweet Thirty Seconds … it could be the best investment you could ever make for your eternal self.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
